Today, we woke up, had breakfast, and then started our hike to high camp. It would be a bit technical and five hours long.

We first hiked across the mountain over an area where there was a stream coming from the glacier.

Then we climbed up an orange sandy part where we stopped at the top to have lunch. After that would be the hardest part, climbing up a rocky cliff and along the ridge to the glacier where high camp was. The rocky cliff was the technical part of the climb. A few days before this, a climber fell on this part of the climb and was seriously injured, so we were roped up for part of it as an extra safety precaution. It took a while to get up this part because we went slow and made sure we were being safe. After a while, we got to high camp which was very small and there was not a lot of room. It sits on a cliff right at the edge of the glacier at 18,000 ft.

After our hike, we had a really early dinner and went to bed to try and get a bit of sleep before our climb in the morning. We would wake up at 12:30am and leave at 2am.

What an adventure! Be extra safe up there and enjoy every agonizing moment.
