Today we woke up, had breakfast and then headed out to explore a nearby island. We took a boat across Lake Titicaca to get to the island and along the way Rosemary told us about the lake and its history.

She said that the lake was very important and spiritual to the Bolivian people. They believe that the lake is full of magical creatures like mermaids, seahorses, dolphins, and a sea monster. The sea monster is 17 meters long and has the head of a puma and the body of a snake. The island we were going to was called the island of the sun. Once we got there, we hiked to a sacred temple for the sun god.

The temple was made by the Tiwinaku people and then was used later on by the Incas. Then we continued hiking along a ridge. The elevation was 13,000 ft so we were all extremely out of breath just going up the stairs.

From the top of the ridge, we could see mountains on the other side of the lake which were in Peru.

We stopped at a little sculpture which is called a Waka and Rosemary showed us how to give blessing to the mountains that we are climbing.

After that we kept hiking for a few hours and then stopped in a small town to have lunch which was a traditional Bolivian meal.

Then we went back to Copacabana and did a gear check before we headed out for camp the next day. We went to dinner and then came back and went to bed.
