Today we leave to climb Kilimanjaro. The past two days, we arrived in Arusha, met our team and packed up. There are seven other climbers plus our two main guides. One of our guides, Tendi Sherpa, has summited Everest 14 times. He has so much knowledge on climbing mountains that I am so excited to learn about.

So, we packed up the last of our things, ate breakfast and left at 8am. We drove for about two hours to the gate and ate lunch there before we started hiking.

It started pouring rain right before we left so everyone got out all of their rain gear.

We went at a very slow pace, they say "polè polè" which means slow, slow in Swahili. We hiked for six hours through a very green forest that looked like a jungle. It stopped raining about half-way through and the sun came out.

When we got to camp, I felt pretty good, my feet felt a little sore because I’m not used to being on them for so long. I had a few blisters and was pretty tired, but other than that felt good. We had dinner and celebrated New Year’s Eve, and then went to bed.
