Today we woke up at 6am like normal and packed up our bags for the last time. We would be hiking the rest of the way down the mountain today which was 8 miles and down 7,000ft. Our group was a little sore this morning; many people's knees hurt from the downhill the day before. We ended up splitting into three groups to make it faster. My dad and I were in the first group which went the fastest because we both felt really good. The first few hours of down weren't too bad; it was a pretty fast pace, but I felt good. We passed the last camp on the mountain, Mweka camp.

The last few hours got really hard. The trail was covered in thick mud which caused us to slide and fall multiple times. My feet were covered in blisters and it started to pour as we hiked the final five minutes. It felt really good to finish, but I was so exhausted. I was very relieved to be done. We ran inside as the rain poured down and sat to wait for the rest of our team. It only took another thirty minutes for them to get down and then we went to take pictures with the sign.

After that we went and had lunch with our whole team, the group members, all of the guides, and all of the porters. Then we drove back to the hotel. On the drive we saw Kilimanjaro in the distance, it looked so huge and none of us could believe we were at the very top just yesterday.
